(B) Brown–red pollen grains stained with 50% Gram’s iodine indicate that the pollen grains are viable compared to the (C) deionized water control. The 1% TTC stain showed that the relative number of viable pollen grains between the (E) MP3 transgenic line and the (F) non-transgenic line was the same, although differential staining was observed.
