Measures of infarct size in rat hearts after ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury is better after treatment with danhong injection (DHI) than with no treatment. (A) 24 h after I/R and treatment, the heart was cut into five layers from base of heart to apexcordis, sections of the left ventricles (LV) were stained to determine regions of normal (blue), infarcted area (white) and area at risk (red). (B–D) Infarct area/area at risk (INF/AAR), the risk/left ventricular (INF/LV) and area at risk/left ventricular (AAR/LV) ratio was quantified, n (number of animals) ≥4, *p < 0.05 vs. I/R group.
