Auxin promotion of hypocotyl segment elongation. Apical hypocotyl segments were dissected from 5-day-old etiolated wild-type (M82) tomato seedlings. Segments were incubated for 1 h on KPS nutrient plates, transferred to KPS plates (a) lacking (mock) or (b) containing 10-μM indole-3-acetic acid (IAA), and imaged over time. Pictures depict overlays of the t = 0 min (dark) and t 300 min (light) time points. See Reference 115 for additional details.
