Lymphatic gene expression reported in three studies of lung fibrosis in C57BL/6 mice. Gene Expression Omnibus data sets of lungs after bleomycin challenge and lungs with telomere dysfunction (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/geo). Housekeeping genes (chosen to show little or no change after bleomycin) compared with lymphatic endothelial cell and growth factor genes. A: Bleomycin: accession number GSE37635.40 Bleomycin was given once at 10 to 12 weeks of age. B: Bleomycin: accession number GSE40151.41 Bleomycin was given once at 7 to 9 weeks of age. C: Telomere dysfunction. Accession number GSE114005.1 Tamoxifen was given weekly from 8 weeks of age. Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)-C and/or chemokine (C-C motif) ligand (CCL) 21 were increased in all studies, prospero homeobox 1 (Prox1) was increased in two studies, and VEGF-D was not increased in any study. n = 6 mice per group (A); n = 6 to 8 mice per group (B); n = 3 mice per group (C). ∗P < 0.05 versus baseline group (Benjamini-Hochberg corrected). Vegfr, VEGF receptor.
