Across all of these simulations, other parameters are fixed: threshold radius (r) = 15 mm, transmission efficiency (τ) = 1 and scaled infectiousness (η) = 2. A random forest analysis was used to determine the relative importance of genetic background and sex to each summary statistic used to describe outbreak dynamics (electronic supplementary material, figure S2).
