Fabrication flow process: fibres generated in a modified cotton candy machine (see electronic supplementary material, movie M1.mov, for brief movie of the process) could be scooped out as a concentric fibre fabric, which was sandwiched and cut into individual sheets. The sheets were then subjected to isothermal charging with an air ionizer 1 cm from the fabric for a 10 min duration to improve the fabric’s static charge characteristics. (Online version in colour.)
