Proposed model for C-F bond session and cofactor biogenesis in F2-Tyr272 GAOV. A copper-bound superoxide radical oxidizes Cys228 and produces a copper-bound hydroperoxide and a thiol radical. Oxidation of F2-Tyr272 by the thiol radical leads to the formation of a thioether bond and Cu(II)-(F-Tyr-Cys).
