(A) The DPPH assay was performed with ascorbic acid (Vc), BHT, and citric acid (CA). CA did not affect the scavenging activity outside the cell. (B−C) B16F10 and NHEM cells were treated with CA for 2 h. CA increased the ROS levels in B16F10, but dose-dependently decreased ROS in NHEM cells. Results are presented as mean ± SD. Statistical analysis was performed using the Student’s t-test versus the non-treated groups (0 mM), n ≥ 3, *P < 0.05; ***P < 0.001, n.s. not significant.
