Table 3.

Characterization of gaze-fixations strategies for each player according to performance speed. ‘Gaze-stop on central C’ corresponds to a fixation on the central note of the keyboard, which is repeated twice in between extreme pitches. ‘Focus on central C only’ refers to players who only fix their gaze on the central note of the keyboard, while playing all of the exercise. ‘Y’ indicates that performers use this technique, ‘N’ that they do not have recourse to it. ‘(Y)’ indicates partial use through the entire exercise. ‘N’ in both categories corresponds to gaze-shifts from one extreme to the other, the gaze never fixing the central note except for the very beginning and end of the exercise.
