Hex inhibits signal activation downstream the EGFR. Caco-2 cells were incubated without or with 2.5, 5 and 10 μM Hex for 30 min at 37 °C and subsequently incubated in the absence/presence of EGF (10 ng/ml) for 10 min at 37 °C. Western blot images show (A) p (Tyr1068)-EGFR, EGFR, p (Ser338)-cRaf, cRaf, p (Ser217/221)-MEK1/2, MEK1/2, p (Thr202/204)-ERK1/2, ERK1/2 and α-tubulin, and (B) p (Tyr458/199)-PI3K, PI3K p110γ, p (Ser473)-Akt, p (Thr308)-Akt, Akt and α-tubulin in total cell extracts. After Western blots, bands were quantified and values for the phosphorylated proteins were referred to the total content of the corresponding protein. Results were referred to control values (1, dashed line). Results are shown as mean ± SEM and are the average of at least five independent experiments.
