Flowchart showing definitions of phenotypes with numbers of people in each category for the 379 713 unrelated individuals in the UK Biobank, using ICD10 (International Classification of Diseases 10th Revision) codes, endoscopy status, proton pump inhibitor and H2-receptor blocker use to further refine the phenotype. The same flowchart for all 450 000 Europeans is given in Supplementary Figure 1, available as Supplementary data at IJE online. The farther down the sensitivity analysis, the greater the confidence we have that the cases are true GORD cases.
