¹The pretest period was initiated upon arrival of the pigs to the farm and lasted 7 d, during which a typical phase 1 nursery diet was fed ad libitum. There were 10 pigs per pen, and 6 or 7 pens per treatment, due to the availability of only 48 pens for the experiment. The treatment with six pens per treatment was selected randomly.
