Epigenetic regulation of hippocampal neurons. Hippocampal neurons are regulated by histone acetylation and methylation which in turn affect long-term memory. DNA methylation regulates the development of hippocampal neurons. Abnormal changes to the levels of histone marks contribute to cognitive deficits and memory impairment.
