Susceptibility of adult and 7-day-old pups to intranasal inoculation with herpes simplex virus (HSV)-1 and HSV-2. Seven-week-old adult female mice (A and B) or 7-day-old pups (C and D) were intranasally challenged with the indicated doses of HSV-1(B3x1.1) or HSV-2(4674) and monitored for 2 weeks for signs of disease.
