Modulation of system Xc in ferroptotic cancer cells.The cystine/glutamate exchanger is composed of SLC7A11 and SLC3A2. Inhibition of them both can impair the uptake of cystine and following GSH synthesis, thus affect the activity of GPX4 and sensitize tumor cells to ferroptosis.
