Relative expression of potential “Azospirillum-rice interaction marker genes” in Nipponbare roots. Expression values (from three independent experiments) were normalised by the non-inoculated condition and error bars represent 95% confidence interval of the mean. The color code is as follows: blue, for strains originally isolated from rice rhizosphere or tissues; green, for strains isolated from wheat; orange, for strains isolated from maize; purple, for strains isolated from other plants (Table 1). An asterisk indicates that the corresponding gene was also induced following infection with the fungal pathogen Magnaporthe Oryzae (Marcel et al. 2010; Table 3).
