Oxysterol mixtures induce a clear morphological change in astrocytes. Primary astrocytes were treated with 10 μM of the Early or Late AD oxysterol mixture for up to 24 h. Astrocyte morphology was examined by immunocytochemistry using a glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) antibody (red) and nuclei were stained with Hoechst 33258 (blue). Representative images from three experiments are shown. Cells were imaged using an Eclipse Ti-E Microscope (Nikon; 20× objective; scale bar: 100 μm).
