Panel A shows reconstructed concentrations in air based on historic ice core data26, 50, and corresponding concentrations in surface seawater and squid based on equilibrium partitioning. Panel (B) shows modeled concentrations of FOSA in different pilot whale birth cohorts based on environmental levels (Panel A). Panel (C) shows average concentrations of FOSA in juvenile male pilot whales for ages ranging between 5 to 15 years to match the bounds of observations. Measured values from this study shown as black circles in Panel (C).
