Enrichment of prenatally expressed genes is restricted to the cerebellum. After LD-pruning, each single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) was assigned to the nearest gene within 2 megabases. Elevated prenatal expression was defined as a fetal/postnatal log2 fold-change threshold of 0.5. Analyses were performed using both the RNA sequencing-based Brainspan transcriptome of 15 different brain regions and microarray-based ‘BrainCloud’ dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) transcriptome. To calculate values for “common_tissue”, we estimated the effect size of elevated expression in all brain tissues included in Brainspan while adjusting for tissue type. The estimated effect size is then used to do the sign test. Panel A. −log10 P-values. Panel B. percentage of genes with elevated prenatal expression.
