Gene structures of Ehrlichia VirB2 paralogs. All Ehrlichia spp. encodes 3 - 5 copies of VirB2 paralogs. Ehrlichia sp. HF and E. muris subsp. eauclairensis encode five VirB2 paralogs at ~120 AA, whereas E. chaffeensis and E. muris subsp. muris subsp. muris AS145 encode four VirB2. E. canis only encodes only 3 copies of VirB2 paralogs, and E. ruminantium encodes 4 copies with larger gaps between each virB2 paralogs. Except for E. ruminantium, most virB2 genes are clustered in tandem with virB2-1 separated from the rest.
