Groups are identified as: control (chicks were not treated with any pathogen and fed a basal diet not supplemented with the probiotic H57); NE (necrotic enteritis) chicks received a co-infection with Eimeria vaccine and Clostridium perfringens (Cp) and were fed a basal diet not supplemented with the probiotic H57; NE & H57 chicks were exposed to Eimeria vaccine and Cp, and fed a basal diet supplemented with the probiotic H57; H57 chicks were not treated with any pathogen but fed the control diet supplemented with the probiotic.
1The number in brackets represents the frequency (%) of the qualitative description (linear vs. slightly dilated vs. saccular) found in the images observed.
2The number in brackets represents the frequency (%) of the actin condensation degree (no vs. minor vs. major) found from the images observed.
