IL-1β-induced production of IL-6 in cartilage is attenuated by genetic deletion of TRPA1. Cartilage samples (from femoral heads) were obtained from six TRPA1 deficient (KO) mice and six corresponding wild-type (WT) mice. The cartilage pieces were cultured in the presence of IL-1β (100 pg/mL) or without stimulation for 42 h, after which the culture medium was collected, and IL-6 was measured by immunoassay. The results are expressed as mean + SEM, n = 6. One-way ANOVA followed by Bonferroni post-test was performed; ** p < 0.01, *** p < 0.001, ns: not significant.
