(a) Oxidative growth phenotype. Equal amounts of serial dilutions of cells from exponentially grown cultures (10⁴, 10³, 10², 10¹ cell/spot) were spotted onto SC medium supplemented with the indicated carbon. The growth was scored after 3–5 days of incubation at 28 °C and 37 °C. The experiment was performed on at least three independent clones for each strain. (N = 2; n = 6). (b) Oxygen consumption rate (OCR) was measured in wild-type and mutant strains. (c) NADH-cytochrome c oxidoreductase (NCCR) and cytochrome c oxidase (COX) activities were measured in mitochondria extracted as described in Material and Methods.
