Stress (Pa) and strain distribution: (a) normal stress in the $x$ direction, (b) normal stress in the $z$ direction, (c) shear stress in the $x z$ direction, (d) normal strain in the $x$ direction, (e) normal strain in the $z$ direction, and (f) shear strain in the $x z$ direction. The stress and strain components are presented for the x and z directions only. This is due to the fact that due to low thickness of the implant (and a low number of unit cells) in the y-direction as well as plane-stress loading condition in the x-y plane, the stress and strains in the y-direction were negligible.
