Figure 5

Forest plots for comparisons of interleukin (IL)-6 and high sensitive C-reaction protein (hsCRP) in serum. Three studies reported data of IL-6 in a total of 95 patients under maintenance hemodialysis (MHD). Resistant starch type 2 (RS2) could decrease the level of IL-6 in patients under MHD (SMD = -1.08, 95% CI: -1.64 to -0.53, I2 = 35%, P = 0.0001, a). However, no significant change was found in serum level of hsCRP (SMD = 0.17, 95% CI: -0.22 to 0.56, I2 = 14%, P = 0.40, b).
