Summary of the review showing the steps and challenges for basic NSC research and for clinical trials of stroke treatment.

NSCs have unique mechanisms for cell replacement, paracrine action, inflammatory regulation and neuroprotection. Basic and clinical research into NSC therapy promises to achieve functional recovery after stroke.
