Day 3 lung cryosections were stained for the indicated markers. The number of cells stained was determined in 6 randomly chosen 450 μm diameter fields, and the number of positive cells per mm² of lung tissue was calculated for each marker. Values are mean ± SEM, n = 6 mice (3 males and 3 females), except control group where n = 7 (3 males and 4 females). * p < 0.05, ** p < 0.01, *** p < 0.001, and **** p < 0.0001 (1-way ANOVA, Dunnett’s test).
