Cell viability of BHK-21 cells exposed to different concentrations of PVC (■) and PMMA ( ) NPs for 24 h (a), 48 h (b), 96 h (c), 120 h (d). The data for 72 h incubation is given in supporting information Figure S5. The results are expressed as % of the viability as compared to the control, mean ± SEM values of n = 3 independent experiments are given. Statistical analysis was done by one-way ANOVA (*p < 0.05, **p < 0.01, ***p < 0.001, ****p < 0.0001) and compared to control cells with no NP exposure.
