Growth of 14 butyrate-producing bacteria on several oligosaccharides. Growth was monitored at 660 nm in basal YCFA broth supplemented with 0.5% (w/v) oligosaccharides, including kestose, nystose, fructooligosaccharide mixture (FOSs), xylooligosaccharide mixture (XOSs), and raffinose, and glucose and sugar-free broths were included as controls.
