Box plots showing the epidemiological results of different control strategies for simulated FMD outbreaks initiated in (A) Region “North” and (B) Region “West.” The different control measures are: SO, stamping out of all infected herds (reference scenario); SODC, pre-emptive depopulation of dangerous contact herds; SORC1, pre-emptive depopulation of all susceptible herds within 1-km radius around infected herds; SOSV1, suppressive vaccination of all susceptible herds with 1-km radius around infected herds; SOPV1, protective vaccination of all susceptible herds with 1-km radius around infected herds.
