Mycoplasma pneumoniae bacterial load and immune cell numbers in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid after Mycoplasma pneumoniae reinfection in BALB/c and DBA/2 mice. (A) Schematic representation of the experiment. (B, C) BALB/c mice and DBA/2 mice were infected intranasally with Mycoplasma pneumoniae (Mp). On day 14 post-infection, mice were intranasally reinfected with Mp. On the day after reinfection, (B) Mp bacterial load and (C) the numbers of CD45+ immune cells, neutrophils, and alveolar macrophages in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid were determined by (B) real-time PCR and (C) flow cytometry.
