Nuclear DNA content in radicle tips with coleorhiza after germination of dormant A. fatua caryopses on water (a) and after-ripened caryopses for 16 weeks (b, c, d) germinated in the absence or in the presence of ABA (10–4 M) for various times. Coleorhiza emergence after 36 and 48 h germination of after-ripened caryopses on water was 42 and 40%, respectively. Radicle emergence after 48 h germination on water was 18%. Coleorhiza emergence after 36 and 48 h germination of after-ripened caryopses in the presence of ABA was 8 and 24%, respectively. Two-way ANOVA with Duncan’s post hoc test was used to test for significance of differences. Means denoted by different letters (a–e) are significantly different (P < 0.05; n = 5)
