Impact of valeric acid on HDAC activity and global DNA methylation. (A) MCF-7 cells were incubated at three different concentrations of valeric acid and HDAC activity was measured after 48 h. Valeric acid significantly inhibited HDAC activity at concentration of 2.5 mM, 5 mM, and 10 mM compared to the control group (*p < 0.05). (B) The Global DNA methylation assay revealed that valeric acid (2.5 mM, 5 mM, and 10 mM) significantly decreased the levels of global DNA methylation in MCF-7 cells compared to the control group (*p < 0.05). All assays were performed in triplicate.
