The σ1s protein is required for reovirus dissemination in the presence of IFN-1 responses. Three- to four-day-old wild-type (IFNAR1+/+) or IFNAR1−/− neonatal mice were infected orally with 104 PFU of the T1L or T1L σ1s-null strain.
