Table 2.

Results from the BM test.

0% morph images pre-treatment 0% morph images post-treatment BM index pre-treatment, 0.5 s exposure BM index pre-treatment, 2 s exposure BM index post-treatment, 0.5 s exposure BM index post-treatment, 2 s exposure
Cis controls (n = 15) 2.9 ± 1.1 26.0 ± 15.5 29.3 ± 18.0
TrM (n = 40) 1.96 ± 1.0 2.8 ± 1.0 − 14.9 ± 32.8 − 6–5 ± 63.3 − 21.3 ± 21.1 − 24.5 ± 49.9
TrW (n = 25) 1.85 ± 1.0 2.4 ± 1.0 − 13.8 ± 29.5 − 8.8 ± 57.6 − 21.2 ± 24.1 − 22.6 ± 45.7

Ratings for 0% morphed (unaltered) images ranged from 0 (not me at all) to 4 (entirely me). Positive values on the BM index indicate greater self-identification with their body morphed to other bodies that are the same as their birth assigned sex (as seen in cis-controls); negative values indicate greater self-identification with their body morphed to other bodies that are the opposite to their birth assigned.
