Recovery of NTHi from the middle ear (ME). Bacterial recovery from wild-type (WT) mouse MEs was robust on days 2 and 3 after inoculation, but no bacteria were found in the MEs of WT mice on day 7. More bacteria were recovered from the MEs of CCR2−/−/CL mice than from CCR2−/−/PBS mice on days 3 and 7, and from WT mice on day 7.
