Pieces of proximal colon from wild type mice were dissected, cleaned, and exposed for 1 min to DMSO with a subsequent second exposure to either drug or a second DMSO application. (a) Enzymatic activity was measured using Ellmans reaction after propulsion time measurement in the ex vivo organ bath (n = 6 per group with three donor mice). Propulsion time was recorded by inserting a dried fecal pellet from the respective mouse and camera-based time-lapse measurement ((b), n = 5 per group or n = 4 (DMSO-double incubation, ctrl II)). Data are presented as mean + SEM. Statistical analysis was conducted by One Way ANOVA with Sidak’s multiple comparison test (* p < 0.05, ** p < 0.01, *** p < 0.001).
