Fenton chemistry facilitates the formation of 2PYR and 6PYR from NR. Overlay 1H NMR of nicotinamide riboside (bottom spectrum) and crude reaction mixture (above). NR decomposes to nicotinamide under basic conditions (3rd spectrum up). The crude reaction mixture was spiked with each pyridone ribosides (4th–6th spectra).
