Polyphenol-rich medicinal plant extracts and pure polyphenols tested. The polyphenols present in the extracts obtained from A. borbonica, A. triplinervis, D. viscosa and T. bentzoe medicinal plants were previously identified [21]. Caffeic acid, chlorogenic acid and quercetin derivatives were detected as main polyphenols present in A. borbonica, A. triplinervis and D. viscosa plants, while gallic acid derivatives were detected in T. bentzoe plant. Consistently, pure quercetin, caffeic, chlorogenic and gallic acids were used as control polyphenols in the experiments.
