Role of IL-6 in immunopathology associated to ovarian cancer and COVID-19. IL-6 is one of the key cytokines driving the immunopathology caused by prolonged aspecific inflammation. IL-6 induces the transcription of several liver-specific genes in acute inflammatory states, such as CRP, thrombopoietin, and hepcidin thus contributing to associated immunodepression, anemia and thrombocytosis (with related hypercoagulability)
