The effects of VER‐155008, gefitinib or FBS deprivation on macroautophagy in mesothelioma cells were assessed by a plasmid system (pMRX‐IP‐GFP‐LC3‐RFP‐LC3ΔG). This plasmid produces light chain 3 (LC3) protein bound to green fluorescent protein (GFP), and LC3ΔG protein, an internal control, bound to red fluorescent protein (RFP). (a) Fluorescent microscopy findings for transfected mesothelioma cells cultured for 24 hours with dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO), 20 μM VER‐155008 or 5.0 μM gefitinib under 10% fetal bovine serum (FBS) or FBS deprivation conditions.
