Evidence‐based recommendation (2.16)
  1. Due to concerns about patient's health and the impact of systemic antibiotic use to public health, its routine use as adjunct to subgingival debridement in patients with periodontitis is not recommended.

  2. The adjunctive use of specific systemic antibiotics may be considered for specific patient categories (e.g. generalized periodontitis Stage III in young adults).
