Structure of TGF-βR1 and TGF-βR2. TGF-βR1 and TGF-βR2 contain multiple cysteines and a signal sequence in the extracellular region. In the intracellular region near the membrane, TGF-βR1 contains a region rich in glycine and serine that is associated with its autophosphorylation, and TGF-βR2 contains a region rich in serine and threonine that can phosphorylate TGF-βR1 during signal transduction, activating the TGF-βR1 kinase region.
