Significance was based on a false discovery rate (FDR)-corrected P value of <0.05. * indicates whether the effect of the tested model on the expression of the gene is significant. A gene can be associated with strain (gene differentially expressed only between strains), condition (gene differentially expressed only between different conditions), strain and condition only (gene differentially expressed in relation to strain and condition but not considering the full model strain × condition), or the interaction between strain and condition (strain × condition column). The last situation can be due to a significant association with the three tested models (A), the full model and one of the others (B and C), or the full model only (D).
