The effect of Lactobacillus strains on the adhesion of pathogenic bacteria to human colon adenocarcinoma cell line – Caco-2 expressed as the inhibition rate (%). Displayed data constitute the mean value from three repetitions (± SD). Mean values, which were significantly different were marked with various lowercase letters (a – g), according to the performed two-way ANOVA (p < 0.05) results with the post hoc Tukey’s test (p < 0.05). Both explanatory variables, namely probiotic and pathogenic strain bring significant information, as well as the interaction of these categorical variables (probiotic strain*pathogenic strain), therefore results should not be considered separately. Nonetheless, from all explanatory variables, the pathogenic strain was the most influential in competition assay results.
