STAT1 and SM (a family of RNA binding proteins in the lytic phase) binding. SM and ASF/SF2 bind to the same region in STAT1. By binding to STAT1, SM regulates alternative splicing and disrupts the ratio of STAT1α and STAT2β isoforms by preferentially increasing the levels of STAT1β.
