Hepatic fatty acid and triacylglycerol synthesis enzymes. (a) Proteins extracted from hepatic VEH and OEA samples were subjected to SDS-page electrophoresis. Membranes were analyzed by immunoblotting using specific antibodies for acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC), and fatty acid synthase (FAS), CD36, diacylglycerol acyltransferase 1 (DGAT1), DGAT2, and stearoyl-CoA desaturase 1 (SCD1). Each blot was normalized to the proper specific β-actin. (b–e) Blot signals were quantified by densitometric analysis and reported as % of the vehicle (VHE). (f) DGAT, ACC and FAS specific activities were assayed as reported in the Material and Methods section and reported as fold changes with respect to values measured in VEH rats.
