Generation of the integrin α₄β₁ protein model. The process of generating a working integrin α₄β₁ receptor protein model was as follows: (A) The α₄β₇ resolved head domain model (PDB code 3V4V) and (B) the α₅β₁ resolved head domain model (PDB code 4WK2) were utilized as templates for α₄ and β₁ subunits, respectively. (C) The β₁ subunit (4WK2) was mapped using the ITB1_human peptide sequence and the β₇ subunit (3V4V) as references, to generate a β₁ subunit model in active conformation. (D) The α₄ (3V4V) and newly generated β₁ model subunits (left image) were compiled into a single α₄β₁ integrin model (right image) with H-bonds and metal ions (green spheres).
