TXNIP is the molecular link between the regulation of oxidative stress and inflammation. Physiological levels of TXNIP balance the regulation of TRX oxidative stress. TRX is free from TXNIP, whose level is controlled by several factors. However, high levels of TXNIP inhibit TRX activity, resulting in oxidative stress with the accumulation of ROS.
