Amino acid alignment of representative sequences from the various clades of C. bivirgatus 3FTx (cladogram on the left is derived from the topology of the more comprehensive phylogeny in Figure 3). Sequences include representatives from each clade where at least one member was confirmed via MS/MS, both the δ-elapitoxins and the maticotoxins, as well as a cytotoxin from Naja atra, for comparison to those closely related toxins and a type-I α-neurotoxin from Laticauda semifasciata as the ‘stereotypical’ sort of 8-cysteine 3FTx. The eight conserved cysteine residues are highlighted with boxes.
